Disability Related Libraries

Libraries that maintain collections of books, magazines and other materials typically found in a public library in formats that are accessible to people who are unable to use regular printed materials because of a visual, physical or other disability; and/or have publications and other materials on disability-related topics. Included are Braille materials; large print resources; captioned and/or described films, videos and DVDs; audio books; and other similar materials that are generally circulated by mail.

Special Libraries

Public or private libraries that are devoted to acquiring, classifying and making available to the community for research or general appreciation, books, manuscripts, letters and other documents or artistic materials that are rare, of special interest, of historical significance or of scholarly value. Also included are libraries whose collections specialize in materials that are related to a particular focus or target group, e.g., political thought, minority groups, gay or lesbian groups, religious groups, women.
