Description
An office of the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services responsible for administering county probation and the use of correctional alternative programs throughout the state. Probation and community corrections professionals provide youth and adults under probation supervision in the community with support and services that help them lead productive and crime-free lives.

The office also trains newly appointed probation officers; supports the work of alternative to incarceration programs and County Re-Entry Task Forces funded by DCJS; regulates the state's ignition interlock program; coordinates the work of the state Probation Commission and the Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision; and oversees the interstate transfer of individuals on probation and parole through the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision.
