Description
Provides information to the public, law enforcement agencies, businesses and other entities about individuals required to register as sex offenders in New York State. Maintains an online directory of individuals determined to have a Level 2 or 3 risk of re-offense.
The state’s NY-ALERT system can provide notifications whenever a Level 2 or Level 3 sex offender listed in the online directory moves.

Hours
Registry staff for database are available Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, excluding legal holidays.
Searchable online directory is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Intake Process
To get information about Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders, search the Sex Offender Registry online directory at https://www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/SomsSUBDirectory/search_index.jsp
To get information about Level 1 sex offenders and offenders whose risk levels have not yet been determined by a judge, call 800-262-3257 during the hours specified above. Callers must have an individual's name and one of the following – an exact address, date of birth, driver's license number, or Social Security number – to learn if that individual is on the Registry.
Employers, children’s camp operators, and volunteer organizations can submit search requests directly to the Registry. Learn more about that process here: https://www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/nsor/800info_cdsubmit.htm
