Description
Works to enable low income persons to meet health costs. Medicaid is the state and federally funded health insurance program designed to assist low income individuals and families obtain medical care for themselves and their children. The Medicaid Program in Erie County provides access to a variety of public health insurance programs including Medicaid, Family Health Plus (FHP), Family Planning Benefits Program, and the Medicare Savings Program.

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm.
Eligibility
Medicaid: Eligibility based on income and family size.
Medicaid Managed Care: All Medicaid-eligible individuals unless they are determined to be exempt or excluded:
- Exempt (not required to enroll, but may enroll voluntarily)
- Individuals currently being treated for a chronic medical condition
- Native American individuals who cannot be served due to language barrier; providers not geographically accessible
- Homeless excluded (not eligible to enroll, even voluntarily)
- Individuals who are dually eligible (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Medicaid Spend-down recipients
- Foster children in the placement of a voluntary agency
- Individuals in the Recipient Restriction Program
- Individuals covered under other insurance (Third Party Health Insurance)
- Permanent residents of residential health care facilities
- Infants weighing less than 12 grams

Intake Process
Call for an appointment; required documentation will depend on whether client falls under the Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) guidelines or non-MAGI guidelines; call for information.
