Description
Provides financial assistance to those who are unable to work, can't find a job or have a job that does not pay enough.

Family Assistance (FA) provides cash assistance to eligible needy families.

Safety Net Assistance (SNA) may provide assistance to persons who are not eligible for other assistance programs.

Emergency Assistance is a category of Temporary Assistance that helps resolve an urgent need or situation. Some examples of an urgent need include utility shut off (gas, electric, water), eviction, moving/storage expenses, or property repair.

Hours
Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm.

Eligibility
Family Assistance (FA): Eligible needy families that include a minor child living with a parent (including families where both parents are in the household) or a caretaker relative.

Safety Net Assistance (SNA): Those not eligible for other assistance programs may be eligible for SNA; this includes single adults, childless couples, children living apart from adult relatives, families of persons found to be abusing drugs or alcohol, families of persons refusing drug/alcohol screening, assessment, or treatment, persons who have exceeded the 60-month limit on assistance, and aliens who are eligible for temporary assistance but who are not eligible for federal reimbursement.

Emergency Assistance: Genesee County residents who
- Are homeless
- Have little or no food
- Have been told by their landlord that they must move
- Have been given eviction papers
- Have no fuel for heating in cold weather
- Are experiencing a utilities shut-off, whose utilities are about to be shut off, or have been given a 72-hour disconnect notice
OR
- Are experiencing a domestic violence situation
