Description
Assists current homeowners with necessary repairs to their owner-occupied homes. Repairs can be for roofs, windows, doors, siding, electrical services, furnaces, hot water tanks, and foundation repairs. Assistance is provided as a deferred interest-free loan up to $30,000 that is paid back upon sale, transfer of title, or once the recipient is no longer using the property as their principal residence. Household must qualify based on income and their mortgage payments and property taxes must be current.

Community Development also provides downpayment and closing cost assistance up to $50,000 to income eligible first-time home buyers. The loan is interest-free and paid back upon sale, transfer of title, or once the home buyer is no longer using the property as a principal residence. Sales price of home that the home buyer obtains may not exceed $265,000. Mortgage amount that the home buyer obtains may not exceed $150,000 and it must be a fixed rate mortgage that escrows property and school taxes.

Eligibility
Income eligible first time homeowners or potential homeowners in the Town of Amherst with a household income of 80% or less of the median income for Erie County.
