Emergency Communications, Emergency Preparedness and Response Training

Description
Provides training and support to the county's first responder community as a division of the Erie County Department of Health.

Coordinates CFR-Certified First Responder and EMT/AEMT-Advanced/Emergency Medical Technician training for volunteer and paid emergency medical care providers. Provides paramedic training. Operates the MERS Control emergency services dispatch center and coordinates ambulance responses for the City of Buffalo, New York State Thruway throughout Erie County, and the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Responsible for supporting operations of the county's Hazardous Materials/WMD Response Team (ECHMRT), Erie County Medical Reserve Corps and Western New York Stress Reduction Program. Operates the County-run Ambulance Service. Provides outreach through the Reach out to 911 program.

EMS Staff responds to emergencies and disasters around the county including MCI-Mass Casualty Incidents, School Bus accidents and those events requiring specialized emergency medical services and/or coordination of EMS resources.
