Coroner Services
Description
Responsible for responding to the scene of an incident of death in order to perform preliminary investigation as to the cause and manner of death. Coroners are dispatched by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department. In certain instances, a case may be referred to the Monroe County Medical Examiner (ME) for comprehensive medicolegal death investigation services including autopsy and post-mortem toxicology.
Coroners also play a role in developing the county’s mass casualty/fatality plan in preparation for catastrophic incidents which could be caused by natural, accidental, criminal, or infectious means.

Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.

Wyoming County residents.
