Description
Works to provide a foundation of learning that enables legally blind students to become independent, self-respecting, and contributing adults in a diverse society. Both day and residential school programs are available. Provides a 5 day residential option to students who require consistency in programming beyond the educational day, who live too far to travel daily, and/or who may require medical or clinical services beyond what can be provided in the school day.

Services available to students may include: Adapted Physical Education, After School Program, Art Therapy, Medical, Health Services, Mental Health Services, Music Therapy, Nursing Services, Recreation, Social Work, Transition Programs, Transitional Employment, Vocational Training, and Work Experience.

Hours
Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

Eligibility
Students ages 5-21 who are legally blind and have an additional disability which could include: Autism, Deaf-blindness, Deafness, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disability, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech or Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, or other health impairment.

Service Area: New York State.

Intake Process
Application (PHC-10), evaluation by Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), and appointment with the Commissioner of Education.

Program Fees
Free for families.

Languages
Braille, American Sign Language.
