Description
* In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Independence Express is now offering free delivery of groceries and medications so that people with underlying health conditions can remain safe in their homes. *

Peer Transportation Program: Provides rides to work and work related activities for up to 3 months for people who have been diagnosed with a mental health disability and live in Erie County. Also provides bus passes when an eligible individual begins work.

Family Support Services: For people who receive services through OPWDD and live with a member of their own family in Erie, Niagara, Genesee, or Orleans County. Provides up to 6 round trips per month for the family to the destination of their choice in Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties. May also provide a bus pass to the eligible individual in Erie or Niagara Counties.

Fee For Service Transportation: Transportation available on a fee for service basis. All transportation is provided on a first come, first served basis in order of priority of each program. Services for residents living in Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties. Anyone canceling 3 times without calling will no longer receive transportation.

Hours
Monday-Sunday, 7:30am-9:30pm; closed some holidays.

Eligibility
Individuals with any disability; drivers may not assist anyone up or down stairs. Children under 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Service Area: Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, & Wyoming Counties.

Intake Process
For more information, call Intake at 716-836-0822 ext. 126. All requests must be made at least 1 week in advance. To confirm a pick-up, dial ext. 305; to cancel, dial ext. 304.

Program Fees
Fee for service is $15.00 each way plus $.50 per mile. Some transportation is free, depending upon program eligibility.
