Description
Provides free civil legal services for problems with health care and insurance (including Medicaid and Medicare), kinship care (non-parent custody issues in family court, no age restrictions), social security and public benefits programs, powers of attorney, health care proxies, nursing home and hospital issues, grandparents' rights, protective services, consumer protection relating to consumer scams, refugee/New Americans' services, LGBTQ rights for older adults (Silver Pride Project), elder abuse, veterans' referrals through Veterans' Court (income guidelines), and predatory lending.

Also handles housing problems such as mortgage foreclosures, tax foreclosures, housing violations, and tenant/landlord issues (for City of Buffalo residents only; income guidelines apply).

Labor Day thru Memorial Day: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Memorial Day thru Labor Day: Monday-Friday, 9am-4:30pm.

Eligibility
For programs funded through the federal Older Americans Act, only adults 60 and older are eligible. However, many programs are available for younger or disabled clients. Please call for specifics.

Free.

Languages
Spanish, French, Lingala, Kikongo, Swahili, and Russian.

Language Access Line and International Institute translation services are available for other languages.
