Peer to Peer Networking, Veteran Benefits Assistance, Veteran Support Groups
Description
An Accredited VSO provides assistance with filing applications for benefits and represents veterans and their dependents, widows, and orphans.
Veteran benefits include:
- Compensation (service connected disabilities)
- Pension (non-service connected)
- Burial benefits, death compensation and pension, and federal grave makers
- Department of Veterans Affairs insurance claims
- Department of Veterans Affairs home loan guarantee
- Property tax exemption
- Hospitalization and domiciliary care
- Replacement of lost documents (separation papers, marriage, birth, death, divorce, etc.)
- Education and training
- Application for medals
- Employment rights and information
- New York State Blind Annuity
- Fishing licenses
- Parks and Recreation pass applications
Also provides the PFC Dwyer Peer to Peer Program, which brings United States Armed Forces veterans, service members and their families together through veteran-to-veteran collaborative services, social activities, and community service, easing the transition from military to civilian life.
