Mentoring Programs

Description
Volunteers commit to mentoring a child for at least 2-4 hours a month for one year. Mentors can improve youth's connection to school and community, enhance their self-esteem and self-worth, increase positive relationships, and decrease student school dropout rates. Both community and school-based mentoring are available.

Hours
Office: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Mentoring can occur at any mutually agreed up on time, 7 days a week.

Eligibility
Mentees: Children and youth in 2nd-12th grade.

Mentors: Must be 21 years or older.

Service Area: Chautauqua County.

Intake Process
Students/parents: Email and/or call for a registration form.

Adults who want to be mentors: Email and/or call for an application and interview. Chautauqua Striders will then contact your references and cover the cost for you to be fingerprinted. You will receive an orientation and training prior to being matched with a student.
