Volunteer Information and Referral Specialist (Spanish Speaking)
Purpose of Position: 
Provide comprehensive information and referral service to Western New York residents based on a uniform and updated computerized database covering all communities.

Minimum qualifications:
Ability to speak effectively
Fluency in Spanish
Knowledge of Hispanic Community and Culture
Ability to read above 10th grade level
Interest in working with computers
Pleasant telephone manner
Interest in people
Desire to assist people with their problems
Good listening skills
Positive attitude

Responsibilities:
To provide information and make appropriate referrals concerning local service providers to residents and organizations who request it.
To oversee new trainees when asked
To ascertain the needs of the caller when it is unclear
To provide this service by answering telephone & performing research
To take training provided by 2-1-1 WNY
Four-hour shift according to agreed upon schedule
Basic knowledge of CRS mission and programs

Time required:  As agreed upon.

Training provided:  Sixteen hour course including hands on computer instruction, problem solving and communication skills.

Responsible to:  Information & Referral Administrator
