Homeless Awareness Task Force

Homeless Awareness Task Force logo

The Homeless Awareness Task Force was formed in response to the unexpected loss of a person who was homeless during an overnight blizzard in January 2019. The task force hopes to create awareness and bring education to our community to empower them to help our neighbors who are without a safe place to stay.

You can find the closest shelter or warming center online or by calling 211.

If you see someone who may not be ready for the cold and “doesn’t seem capable of caring for themselves,”

  • in the evenings in Buffalo you can call 211 to request an outreach team do a welfare check,
  • any time, in any community, you can request a welfare check by calling 911.

If there’s an imminent risk to safety, call 911.
