Suicide Prevention Hotlines
Description
A national network of local crisis centers that provides free, confidential, 24/7 emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress in the United States via the 988 Lifeline. Also provides prevention and crisis resources for individuals in crisis and their loved ones, as well as best practices for professionals in the United States.
Veterans, service members, and their loved ones can connect with the Veterans Crisis Line (see separate listing) by dialing 988 then pressing 1.

Open to all, available nationwide.
Intake Process
Call or text to speak with a trained crisis counselor. Veterans can choose option 1 for a crisis counselor specifically trained to help individuals who have served in the U.S. armed services. Chat also available on website.
