Description
A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization comprised of individuals who have survived struggles with mental health or addiction and continue to walk the path of recovery. These New York State certified peer coaches share their experience and knowledge to support others in navigating community services and accessing treatment and basic life needs. Individual and group supports are provided for all stages of recovery, including navigating treatment court, finding housing, getting medical insurance and treatment, applying for government support programs, finding employment, maintaining stability, and more.
Major programs include:
- Advocacy Program: Provides support groups, peer support and education, recovery coaching/guides, referrals and access to care, and community support to individuals and their families affected by mental health and chemical dependency issues.
- Recovery Coaching: Provides individual support and guidance, including care referrals, treatment management, and advocacy, for adults in Chautauqua County who have struggled with recovery from mental health and/or chemical dependency issues.
- Group Supports: Groups are available for support in various topics and formats including AA, NA, 12-steps, crafting, Christian, Buddhist, secular, meditation, yoga, LGBT, anti-suicide, parenting, PTSD, loss and grief, anger management, and more. Most groups meet in person.
- Chautauqua Substance Abuse Response Partnership (CSARP): A public collaboration between local agencies working to address the addiction crisis by finding creative solutions for prevention, treatment, and recovery from substance use disorders.
- Treatment Court Navigation: Provides support with following Treatment Court guidelines and successfully completing Treatment Court.
- Family Court Support: Offers guidance, encouragement, and resources for individuals engaging with Family Court as part of the Better For Families Program.
- Jail Outreach: Through a partnership with the Chautauqua County Jail System, a peer coach meets with individuals during their incarceration to help the them plan for their release and avoid returning to the same habits that got them there. The peer coach provides information and resources that will assist with this process.
- Overdose Response: Connects with individuals and their families shortly after an overdose event to provide comfort, support, education, guidance, resources, and encouragement toward safer habits and practices. Program is provided through a connection to the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program and cooperation with area law enforcement and critical response.
- Emergency Department Connection: In cooperation with UPMC Chautauqua, provides a presence in the hospital to advocate for and provide guidance to individuals with mental health and chemical dependence issues in stressful situations. Also educates staff on resources and techniques available for treatment.
- Transportation: Provides participants with free transportation to medical, court, employment, or treatment-related appointments while helping them find sustainable and independent transportation.
