Assessment Office: Performs field inspections of old and new structures, demolitions, and fire damaged buildings; directs computer input of all assessment changes and hearing schedules; maintains maps showing property locations and dimensions; hears taxpayer complaints; interviews and processes applications for senior citizen and veteran exemptions; inspects and processes applications for building exemptions; processes annual statutory and constitutional applications for various other exemptions.

Taxation Office: Prepares and mails City Property Tax and Sewer Rent Bills for current and arrears and maintains all associated computerized records; prepares and mails local assessment bills to include sidewalks, demolitions etc., and maintains all associated records; prepares data and statistics for tax foreclosure action by the county and city; prepares data, conducts annual tax sale, and provides Tax Sale Certificates; prepares and issues delinquent tax notices; and adjusts and verifies taxes due.
