Runaway/Homeless Youth Helplines

Description
Provides crisis intervention for youth who have run away or are thinking about running away from home.

Assists youth with getting in touch while on the run. Messages can be left which will be passed on to families. Messages must be constructive. Conference calls can be set up between the runaway and family when the runaway is ready. NRS will stay on the line and help talk things out.

Information and referral available to local supportive services.

Home Free: A family reunification process done in collaboration with Greyhound Lines. Helps runaway youths who are ready to return home to do so when they lack the money to do so on their own.

Hours
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Eligibility
Open to youth ages 12-21 and families.

For the Home Free program, one must be between the ages of 12 and 20. NRS must verify a missing person's report has been filed in the client's hometown if under 18.
